Hobbs Hour Billing

A Hobbs meter is just an engine-hours clock. It starts when the engine starts and stops when it stops, so you're paying for taxi time, runup, and any time you spend holding short waiting for traffic. What you log and what you pay for are basically the same number.

Most schools use Hobbs billing, so when a school lists a rental rate, that's almost always a Hobbs rate. A small number of schools and clubs bill by tach time instead, which tends to work out cheaper.
